ADrPLEXUS DIGITAL STRIDES NIMHANS CRASH COURSE helped me streamline my Neuro oriented preparation for the exam. All the classes taken during this program focus particularly on the type of topics asked in NIMHANS. They are very dedicated and are the best at this. Attending this program is one of the reason I could get this rank. Special Mention to Dr. Arun sir, Dr. Sharath Balaji and Dr. Krishna Das.Their concept teaching is amazing and there were many direct questions from their class notes.

Preparation Strategy

What was your study Plan?

During the initial days I focused on finishing one subject per week and I could finish first reading by the start of September. For NIMHANS I studied all neuro related topics from all subjects for a month. And I revised my notes for all other subjects, which I had made during NEET preparation.

How many hours did u study ?

Around 10-12 hours daily.

Your tips for success ?

There’s no substitute for hard work. It always pays off. Believe in yourself and study smartly. Practice a lot of MCQs. Don’t feel low when exams don’t go as good, just be persistent in your study and make an extra effort.

During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?

I never dreamt I would fare so well in NIMHANS exam, the stakes being so high. But I  believed in myself and wanted to give my 100%

How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?

Around 9-10 months of focused preparation. Should finish all subjects within 5-6 months and revise 3-4 times before the exam.VVVVVVVVVVV

When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?

I started my NEET preparation in April-2016. For NIMHANS I started mid-January-2017. ADR NIMHANS program was in the first week of Feb, after which I picked up my pace.

Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?

I think everybody faces this problem since we have to study around 19 subjects. Remembering pharmac was a big task for me. Repeated revisions of such subjects will help. I used to always revise pharmac during the last 2 days before any exam.

What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?

Though I didn’t keep any extensive time tables, I knew how to go about it. I used to have weekly plans of the subjects or topics I should finish.

What is your advice to the future aspirants?

Everybody has their own way of studying. So don’t lose sleep over what other people may or may not do. And I urge aspirants to remember that your pg preparation is only as good as your health and to never compromise on health. Eat healthy, sleep and rise early and throw in a little exercise everyday. The rest automatically follows.

Which books did you read for the theory part?

I revised my class notes and did guide books for most part. I used to refer to standard books if I had any doubts. But for NIMHANS Harrison Neurology part is a must. I also did neuro related topics from Robbins, Ganong, Tripati and neuro images from Netter’s atlas.

What was your strategy for the exam day?

Keep cool and relax, go the the exam centre at least a half hour before the scheduled time. Manage your time and give equal importance to every question. Minimise your negatives.

What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.

Yeah, I did start from question 1 and went about it till the end, later reviewed my marked questions.I attempted 148 out of 150 in NIMHANS. Leaving more than 5 unanswered can be risky.

Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?

No, I didn’t go through any phase of low. What is important for NIMHANS is to not lose focus after your NEET results come. If getting into NIMHANS is your prime goal, you shouldn’t get distracted by anything during this time.

Your Advice for Future aspirants of NIMHANS

Stakes are very high in NIMHANS, only 4 seats in both DM and MCH. So you have to do a very dedicated preparation. Do not overlook other subjects, because in the present Nimhans pattern, they focus on all subjects, specially, Obg, biochem, psm. Study neurology and psychiatry from standard books.

Omkarnath NIMHANS papers, did help me in predicting important topics. There are not many repeat questions, but they do focus very much in detail on some topics.
