I joined the integrated crash coarse organized by Adrplexus Digital Strides conducted in march and it was a very concise and focused revision that was very much required for someone like me who had already some exposure to most of the subject topics.

Preparation Strategy

What was your study Plan?

I initially spent planned time durations preparing subject-wise along with occasional grand tests which helped me to not lose focus on the overall bigger picture and spend too much time preparing just one or two subjects.

How many hours did u study ?

Study time varied from day to day depending on what topics I was covering(which decided my saturation limits). On an average I spent 6-8 hours studying.

Your tips for success ?

Something one of my teachers said.. you need more of smart studying than just lot of studying. It’s important to first chart out what and all you need to cover and den set on it as it is very difficult to cover everything. This we realize usually too late.

During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?

Quite often. But it’s very important to come back and get on top of your own doubts to succeed.

How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?

8-10 months of consistent serious preparation is important. It takes longer if one can’t maintain the consistency.

When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?

For the may exams I started preparing in dec as I had not done as well as I had wanted to in the November exams (owing to lack of consistency I mentioned above).

Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?

Yes. Too often. But over period of time as we solve more and more questions things become more familiar and easier to remember. For other too volatile things I had a separate must revise notes’ book which I used to revise often especially before exams.

What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?

My daily time table was based on the subject I had to finish that week. It also had to accommodate the regular weekend classes that I used to attend. I used to set daily targets n strive to finish those. It is often very difficult to stick to the time table but it organises things for us n without it we would feel very messy in the head.

What is your advice to the future aspirants?

That we need to analyses our own abilities before we set on this. Some people take lesser time to study the same things compared to others. Some people more. So to honestly understand these aspects and make sure we plan accordingly so that we cover the most important topics first and then the rest as much can be accommodated.  Apart from the studying the most important thing is to keep oneself motivated as very often we lose heart as it is a long duration if time.

Which books did you read for the theory part?

Special mentions Rebecca ma’am ‘s biochem book.

I mostly gave more attention to notes that I had made during classes as they had the most updated information.. especially for pharmac and medicine For pgi I studied chaudhary

What was your strategy for the exam day?

Get enough sleep the day before and reach the Centre on time as you don’t need extra tension that day.

Previous day I had a couple of books worth of revision material prepared during my regular studying time so I just went through those

What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.

Started from the first and went to the end. Kept extra 1/2-3/4 hour at the end and did the difficult questions and numerical at the end.

Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?

Yes. I think it would be very abnormal for anyone to not feel depressed atleast in few occasions during the entire time.  But the trick is to limit the duration. To keep motivating yourself. I had good family and friends support to help me out. It helps to talk to other seniors who have already gone through it. In the end it has to come from inside ourselves as in the end it’s just an exam and we just need to give a good enough try.

Tips for your Juniors

What was your strategy for MAY 2016?

Revise all previous notes. If attending any classes make special note of new things being told as well as pay attention to the enture class as it is more easier than just revising by ourselves at home( at least to me it was better to retain)

HOW many choices did u attempt ? ROUGH NUMBER. Please detail your strategies

I attempted around 550 choices in PGI. In AIIMS I attempted 195 questions as I found the paper tough and it seemed like a win or lose situation.

What are the do’s and don’ts in exam

In PGI make sure you read the question number before marking. Special care when you leave a question all together.

Arrange time such that you can go through the entire paper at least twice. Once in a fast way the easy questions then the time consuming ones
