ADrPLEXUS DIGITAL STRIDES test series helped me assess, analyses and improve my preparation. It helped me visualize where I stood in the crowd and the weak areas I could work upon to improve my rank. A judicious mix of repeated topics, expected questions and concept based questions make these tests a must for any PGI Aspirant.

Preparation Strategy

What was your study Plan?

I didn’t have a study plan as such. I just made mental maps and schedules as to when I had to complete my 1st read of the syllabus , subsequent revisions , and special topics to focus on prior to any exam eg biochem obs&gyn surgery before PGI , optha PSM short subjects before AIIMS.

How many hours did u study ?

I didn’t keep a track of it. I think it’s a futile exercise, one should be goal oriented rather than hours.

Your tips for success ?

Persistence, revision and improvisation are the key to success.

During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?

I was shattered and disheartened after my NEET rank and had serious doubts regarding my future. I was still doing my internship in medicine during that time. My senior PGs helped me through the difficult phase. My parents, sister and grandparents always stood by me during this difficult phase.

How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?

I think it is highly variable. I had done a reading of the syllabus during the intership and I think that helped a lot.

When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?

I started in February after completing my internship.

Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?

Everyone faces this problem. I used to mark the difficult topics, make flashcards of topics I couldn’t retain. I revised these flashcards on the day before exam.

What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?

I tried to study during the day hours . I used to wake up around 8-9 and start studying in an hour or so, I tried reading as much as I could during the day and slept around 11pm .There was no timetable as such and I took break whenever I couldn’t concentrate.

What is your advice to the future aspirants?

Believe in yourself and keep working hard for your dream.

Which books did you read for the theory part?

I referred to the standard textbooks in case of doubts and queries.

What was your strategy for the exam day?

I used to sleep early the day before. I used to revise some tits and bits of volatile topics I found difficult on the morning of exam day

What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.

  I started from question 1.

Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?

There were periods of disappointment and uncertainties but my family support helped me recover .

Tips for your Juniors

What was your strategy for MAY 2017?

The Strategy was simple: complete read of syllabus by march mid Then as many revisions and questions from previous year question papers I could do.

HOW many choices did u attempt ? ROUGH NUMBER. Please detail your strategies

I attempted exactly 526 choices. It may sound ridiculous but I marked the no of choices attempted on each page of the question paper itself. It told me whether I was going over cautious or overzealous in marking my options. I left the questions about which I had no clue (6-8). I finished my paper well before the time limit.

What are the do’s and don’ts in exam

Do’s – leave questions which you haven’t heard of try doing 80-90 questions per hour
Don’ts – overmark the options, waste too much time on a single question
