I joined TARGET JIPMER after seeing their dedication in guiding PG aspirants in FB. It helped me to revise the right things during my last few wks of preparation..
Preparation Strategy
What was your study Plan?
Plan was to study daily, consistently and to give my best in every single test.
How many hours did u study ?
Atleast 6-8 hrs a day.Upto 10-12hrs during the last 2 months of NEET preparation. But as far as JIPMER is concerned i gave my best in the last two weeks only.
Your tips for success ?
There is no substitute for hard work. But that doesn’t mean reading every single book u come across. Taking short notes andspending adequate time for revision is the key.
During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
Yes. Many a times.Whenever I didn’t perform well in my test series. But being determined to get what i want gaveme the push to try my best.
How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?
At least 8-10 months of sincere preparation will be required. But it’s better to at least start during your internship if not serious.
When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?
I started serious preparation only after my internship i.e. after April. Took a break after NEET and resumed only in Jan.
Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?
Its my poor memory that restricted me from doing an extensive study. Constant revision and weekly tests by ADrPlexus helped me
What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?
My timetable was targeted towards weekly tests i.e.one subject a week. I never do late night studies and sleep at least 8 hrs . Sticking to timetable is difficult for everybody but i never plan anything beyond my capacity. There is always a pressure to catch up with friends, So knowing what u can and planning according to it is crucial
What is your advice to the future aspirants?
Be determined, focussed and believe in yourself. Try hard to get what you like or you will be forced to like what you get.
Which books did you read for the theory part?
During entrance prep, i only read mcq books like sparsh for pharm and path, ashishamit for medicine and surgey, across ,chaurasia for micro , roams and adrplexusjipmer notes was very useful. Theory books are more time consuming, so i used them only for reference
What was your strategy for the exam day?
Sleep for 8 hrs. Light break fast .keep cool. Give your best and God will do the rest.
What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.
I started from question one. quickly marked the simpler questions and left the ones with slightest doubt to think and mark later. Tried to answer the maximum questtions possible.
Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?
Almost every PG aspirant has to undergo this temporary phase. I started feeling that I have even wasted one full year. But moral support and constant encouragement from friends and family helped me overcome it and is of utmost importance to everyone during this year of preparation.
