Preparation Strategy

What was your study Plan?

To get at least three revisions done by exams.

How many hours did u study ?

10-12hrs

Your tips for success ?

Focus on concept learning with persistant hard work success is in your hands.

During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?

I think such thoughts should not come and also shouldnot affect your preparation.

How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?

6 months of serious preparation is required.

When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?

After internship

Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?

Actually some topics are volatile and some are not. But a good understanding of the subject can surpass the volatile topics. But numbers and formulas needs to be revised again 1-2 days before exam.

What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?

During weekends i had classes. Week days were my study days. I did my best to stick to time table. But although every time it wasn’t possible, If you stick to your time table at least 75percent during preparation you will be able to crack any exam.

What is your advice to the future aspirants?

Start from the first day of classes, there is no time to loose. Whatever you do now decides what you do in your entire life. Focus on concept rather than too much facts. Have a integrated learning. At the end of day you must have a know the gist of entire subject.

Which books did you read for the theory part?

I stuck to notes. Didn’t read theory books during PG preparation, but had read standard textbooks during UG which helped me have a better understanding about subjects now.

What was your strategy for the exam day?

Have a good previous nights sleep, reach the exam centre well before time. Don’t read too much at the last minute. It will be of no use and may also have adverse effect sometimes.

What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with 250 or started from middle of the question paper.

I started from 1st question, but marked good number of questions for review which I had doubt so that i could come back and see them again. My advice is if u mark for review make sure that u will come and see them again and convert them to ‘Answered’.

Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?

I had a lot of support from my teachers, family and friends, so I never underwent any such phase!

Tips for your Juniors

What was your strategy for DEC 2019?

Strategy was simple. This was my last chance, so worked hard with all energy, focussed on conceptual learning.

Remember if u do anything do it with all strength ‘Lukewarm is never good’.

HOW many choices did u attempt ? ROUGH NUMBER. Please detail your strategies

AIIMS

Be aggressive in attending single best answers. Do the new pattern questions like match the following true or false, sequential arrangement in defensive way as the negative marking is more.

Assertion and reasoning and multiple choices to be done at the end and also u can attempt them in aggressive way because only 0.25 negative. To be done at last because it takes more time to think in these two sections.

PGI

Dont be too aggressive. Answer the things u know very well with agression, If u think there is 50-50 chance in an option better to leave it because the negative marking is -1.  But educated guesses are required. Concentrate on biochemistry, Pathology, Medicine ,surgery, and Radiotheraphy and anaesthesia .

JIPMER

The jipmer questions are very much clinically oriented so a good clinical acumnen is required to answer them and also a good working experience in internship is required.  Atleast 120 clinical questions will be there. Although jipmer asks 10-15 unusual unheard questions , those questions dont decide the rank. No need to preapare for them and also better to skip them in exam.

What are the do’s and don’ts in exam

Do’s

Be confident and answer , if there are questions not known to you in the initial part of question paper dont loose your heart, just mark them for review and go forward .If u have preapared sincerely atleast 75percent of questions will be known to you for sure.

Dont’s

Dont answer those questions in which all 4 options you dont know ,there is very less chance of getting them right.
